Backless bar stools tuck completely under a counter, which keeps a small kitchen clear. About seven in ten of ours have solid wood frames or seats. More than half are counter height and a third are bar height, and about a quarter swivel. Black is the most common color, followed by gray and natural wood. Counter height seats are about 24 to 27 inches for a 36-inch counter, and bar height seats are 29 to 31 inches for a 42-inch bar.
