Empire shades are the largest group here, at about four in ten, followed by drum, bell, square and oval shapes and a few cones. Linen is the most common material, then no-slub Innsbruck fabric and shantung silk, with some burlap and paper shades too. About two thirds come in white, ivory or cream, and the rest run from beige and tan to brown, light yellow, slate gray, black and gold. Some have piped edges or pleats. Check the fitting before you order: most of these shades use a spider fitting that rests on a lamp harp, while a few clip onto the bulb or use an uno or washer fitter.
