Chandeliers make up about a third of our lighting, most of them dimmable metal fixtures with shades in nickel, bronze, black and brass. Table lamps are the next biggest group, about a quarter, mostly with drum, empire or globe shades. You'll also find pendant and hanging lights, black and bronze outdoor hanging lights with clear or seeded glass, floor lamps, replacement lampshades, and wall sconces and vanity lights. Over a kitchen island or dining table, hang pendants or a chandelier so the bottom sits roughly 30 to 36 inches above the surface.
