Swivel bar stools let you turn toward the conversation without dragging the seat back, and this collection covers three heights. About 40 percent are counter height for standard kitchen counters, about a third are bar height for taller bar tops, and roughly a quarter adjust up and down, which helps if you're between measurements or want stools that work at more than one surface. A seat that turns needs room to clear its neighbor, so space swivel stools a bit wider than fixed ones, around 28 to 30 inches center to center, especially models with arms. More than half have a low back and some are backless, with upholstery in fabric, faux leather or both over iron, wood or steel frames in gray, black, brown and silver.
