Pouf ottomans make up about four in ten pieces here, most of them 16 to 20 inches, in cube, round and cylinder shapes. Cotton is the most common pouf fabric, followed by wool and jute, often striped or geometric. Storage ottomans are the next biggest group, most 30 to 48 inches long, followed by tufted and cocktail ottomans and footstools. About one in five pieces is leather or faux leather, and velvet, chenille, boucle and faux fur add softer options. Brown, black, white and gray lead the colors. If you'll use it as a footrest, choose an ottoman about the height of your sofa or chair seat, or slightly lower.
