Single-light pendants are the largest group here, about a third, alongside two- to six-light designs and some larger multi-light fixtures, many with shades. Metal is the most common material, with glass, crystal and wire-cage styles, a few rattan and fabric drum shades, mini pendants for small spaces and island fixtures for longer counters. White is the most frequent finish, closely followed by black, gold and bronze, then silver, brass, nickel and chrome. More than a quarter are listed as dimmable. Over a kitchen island, a common guide is to hang pendants about 30 to 36 inches above the counter.
