Round dining tables make conversation easy because everyone faces the middle, and with no corners, pulling up an extra chair is simple. About three in four of ours sit on a pedestal base, which leaves more legroom around the edge; others use four-leg, cross-leg, three-leg, sled or trestle bases. Every listing states its seating: most seat four or six, with smaller tables for two and a few that seat eight or ten. Most listed widths fall between 36 and 60 inches, and about 36 inches between the table edge and a wall gives chairs room to slide back. Solid wood appears in more than half the titles, about one in five feature marble, faux marble, stone, ceramic or faux terrazzo, and a couple extend with a leaf.
