White dressers are easiest to sort by wall space. Setting the combos aside, ours run 18 to 72 inches wide. More than half are 40 inches or narrower, including a few at 24 inches or less for a closet nook or small guest room, and most double and triple dressers, each with six to nine drawers, fall between 41 and 65 inches. About three in ten are combo dressers with cabinet doors, a few of them mirrored; on most combos the title number is the height, and widths vary widely, so check each listing against your wall. Around 40 percent of titles call out solid wood, and some are carved or lighted. For a softer white, look at the antiqued finishes or the two-tone pieces with natural wood, brown or black. Leave about three feet of clear floor in front so drawers open fully.
